Our Governing Board has green lighted the purchase of an intelligent data analysis tool through the Public Innovation Procurement, making Gijón the first Spanish city to do so.
Gijón has become a pioneer in Public Innovation Procurement thanks to the future purchase of an intelligent data analysis tool for companies (HAID IMPUSA). This tool will provide key socioeconomic information about our city for three types of recipients: companies, citizens and public entities by preparing, normalizing, extracting and analyzing great data quantities obtained from different sources, be it structured (data bases, spreadsheets, open data) or non-structured (reports, electronic registers, social media, etc.).
Impulsa was the first public entity in Spain to launch a Public Innovation Procurement with support from the European Commission’s EAFIP (European Assistance for Innovation Procurement), being selected in 2016 to carry out a pilot project to use Public Innovation Procurement to acquire the Intelligent Data Analysis tool. The Preliminary Market Consultation took place during last year’s May and June.

Furthermore, we have the Centro para el Desarrollo Tecnológico Industrial(CDTI, Centre for Industrial Technology Development), a public entity part of the Economy, Industry and Competitiveness Ministry, so the participants in the procurement process can join the Programa de Demanda de Compra Pública Innovadora (Demand Programme for Public Innovation Procurement) to develop their proposals regarding innovative solutions.

The budget to carry out this project reaches 200,000 Euros.

The duration of the initial contract will be of 4 YEARS after the communication of the adjudication’s following day. 1 YEAR for the supply and commissioning of the Intelligent Data Analysis Tool and 3 YEARS of its maintenance and support after its implementation.

This adjudication is expected to be made before the last term of the present year.
